The authorities in Austria and Switzerland have agreed to allow the Austrian diplomatic or consular representations abroad to issue specially labeled “EURO 2008 visas” to make it easier for guests to attend the EURO 2008TM. These visas entitle the holder to enter the Schengen area, Switzerland as well as the Principality of Liechtenstein.

The base camps for the 16 teams qualifying for the Euro 2008TM were announced on Tuesday. Eight teams will stay in Austria and eight in Switzerland to prepare for the tournament. The football teams from Austria, Greece, Croatia, Russia, the Czech Republic, Italy, Spain and Poland will pitch their camp in Austria.

As a result of today’s seeding draw in Lucerne, Greece will play its three group matches against Spain, Russia and Sweden in the Host City Salzburg. Not necessarily the strongest group for Austria’s national football team manager Andreas Herzog, a relief for the security officials and fortunate for Salzburg’s tourist industry since the drawn countries are interesting target markets.

In any case, we can all look forward to the games at the football stadium in Wals-Siezenheim

on June 10, 2008 – Greece vs. Sweden,
on June 14, 2008 – Greece vs. Russia - and
on June 18, 2008 – Greece vs. Spain.

Exciting matches will also take place in Vienna and Klagenfurt, where our national team will face Germany, Poland and Croatia…
